How Much Do Dental Veneers Cost?

Prices per tooth starting with £350 for composites and £600 for ceramic veneers.

Dental veneers range in price based on the number of teeth a person needs to cover and the expertise of the person performing the procedure.

These costs are approximate and can vary based on:

  • The type of veneer
  • The amount of preparation necessary before the procedure

How Long Do Dental Veneer teeth Last?

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers can last for 10 to 15 years or even longer with proper care. However, the lifespan of veneers can vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The quality of the veneers
  • The way they are cared for
  • The patient’s lifestyle habits
  • The presence of any underlying dental conditions

Porcelain veneers are very durable and can withstand everyday wear and tear. However, they can chip or break if they are subjected to excessive force, such as from biting on hard objects. They can also stain over time if the patient does not practice good oral hygiene.

To help extend the lifespan of porcelain veneers, it is important to brush and floss regularly and to see a dentist for regular checkups. Patients should also avoid biting on hard objects and smoking.

If veneers do chip or break, they can usually be repaired or replaced. However, the cost of repair or replacement may be high.

Here are some tips for caring for your porcelain veneers:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.
  • Floss your teeth once a day.
  • Use a mouthwash that contains fluoride.
  • Avoid biting on hard objects.
  • Do not smoke.
  • See your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings.

By following these tips, you can help keep your porcelain veneers looking and feeling their best for many years to come.

Composite bonded veneers

Composite bonded veneers typically last for 5-7 years, but can last up to 10 years with proper care. The lifespan of composite bonded veneers depends on a number of factors, including:

  • The skill of the dentist who performs the procedure.
  • The quality of the materials used.
  • The patient’s oral hygiene habits.
  • The patient’s lifestyle habits, such as their diet and smoking habits.

Composite bonded veneers are not as durable as porcelain veneers, so they are more likely to chip or stain over time. However, they are also less expensive than porcelain veneers, so they may be a good option for people who are looking for a more affordable way to improve their smile.

Here are some tips for extending the lifespan of composite bonded veneers:

  • Brush and floss your teeth regularly.
  • Avoid chewing on hard objects.
  • Limit your intake of foods and drinks that can stain teeth, such as coffee, tea, and red wine.
  • See your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings.

If you are considering composite bonded veneers, be sure to talk to your dentist about the risks and benefits of this procedure. They can help you decide if composite bonded veneers are the right choice for you.

How Are Dental Veneers Fitted?

How are composite bonded dental veneers fitted

Direct and indirect bonded veneers

  • Direct bonding: This is the most common method. The dentist will apply a bonding agent to the teeth and then add layers of composite resin to the surface. The resin is hardened with a special light, and the dentist will then shape and polish the veneers to match the natural teeth.
  • Indirect bonding: This method is used when more extensive changes are needed to the teeth. The dentist will take an impression of the teeth and send it to a dental laboratory. The laboratory will create the veneers from composite resin and then send them back to the dentist for bonding.

The procedure for fitting composite bonded veneers

  1. The dentist will examine your teeth and discuss your desired results.
  2. The dentist will take an impression of your teeth.
  3. The dentist will prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of enamel.
  4. The dentist will apply a bonding agent to the teeth.
  5. The dentist will add layers of composite resin to the surface of the teeth.
  6. The resin will be hardened with a special light.
  7. The dentist will shape and polish the veneers to match the natural teeth.
  8. The dentist will check the fit and appearance of the veneers.

The entire procedure usually takes one to two appointments.

The benefits of composite bonded veneers

  • They are relatively quick and easy to fit.
  • They are less expensive than other types of veneers.
  • They can be used to correct a variety of cosmetic problems.

If you are considering composite bonded veneers, it is important to talk to your dentist about the pros and cons of this treatment option.

How are porcelain veneers fitted

Porcelain veneers fitted in two steps

  1. Preparation: The dentist will examine your teeth and discuss your desired results. They will then take an impression of your teeth to create a model. The dentist will also prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of enamel. This is done to create a surface for the veneers to bond to.
  2. Fitting: The dentist will send the impression to a dental laboratory, where the veneers will be created. The veneers will be made from a mold of your teeth and will be custom-colored to match your natural teeth. Once the veneers are created, the dentist will bond them to your teeth. This is done using a special adhesive that bonds the veneers to the tooth structure.

The entire procedure usually takes two to three appointments.

Here are some additional details about the fitting process:

  • The dentist will use a local anesthetic to numb the area around the teeth.
  • The veneers will be bonded to the teeth using a special adhesive.
  • The dentist will check the fit and appearance of the veneers.
  • The patient will be given instructions on how to care for their new veneers.

After the veneers are fitted, the patient may experience some sensitivity in the teeth. This is usually temporary and will go away within a few days. The patient will also need to be careful not to bite on hard objects or chew gum for a few weeks.

With proper care, porcelain veneers can last for many years. However, they may need to be replaced if they chip or break.

The benefits of porcelain veneers

  • They are very durable and can last for many years.
  • They look very natural and can improve the appearance of your smile.
  • They are resistant to staining.

If you are considering porcelain veneers, it is important to talk to your dentist about the pros and cons of this treatment option.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile and improve your overall appearance. It is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures in the world, and for good reason. Teeth whitening can make your teeth look up to 8 shades whiter, giving you a more confident and radiant smile.

Why Choose Our Cosmetic Dentists for Teeth Whitening in Wakefield?

At Smile Design Studio, our cosmetic dentists in Wakefield take a tailored approach to teeth whitening. We begin with a detailed consultation to assess your oral health, understand your goals, and recommend the most suitable whitening option for your smile. Whether you choose in-practice or at-home whitening, you’ll benefit from professional-grade products, expert guidance, and long-lasting, natural-looking results – all delivered in a calm and supportive setting.

Types of Teeth Whitening

There are two main types of teeth whitening: in-office whitening and at-home whitening. In-office whitening is a more intense treatment that typically takes about a1-2 hours. During an in-office whitening treatment, we will apply a whitening gel to your teeth and then use a light or laser to activate the gel. At-home whitening is a less intense treatment that can be done over a period of several weeks. At-home whitening kits typically include a whitening gel and a custom-fit whitening tray.

Which Teeth Whitening Method is Right for Me?

The best teeth whitening method for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you are looking for quick and dramatic results, in-office whitening may be the best option for you. If you prefer a more affordable and convenient option, at-home whitening may be a better choice.

What to Expect After Teeth Whitening

After your teeth whitening treatment, you may experience some sensitivity in your teeth. This is usually temporary and will subside within a few days. You may also notice that your teeth are slightly more sensitive to hot and cold foods and drinks. This sensitivity should also subside within a few days.

How to Maintain Your White Smile

To maintain your white smile after teeth whitening, it is important to follow your dentist’s instructions. You may also want to use a whitening toothpaste and rinse. Avoid smoking and drinking dark-colored beverages, such as coffee, tea, and red wine.

If you are interested in teeth whitening, please schedule a consultation with our aesthetic dentist today. We will be happy to answer any questions you have and help you choose the best teeth whitening method for you.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over a damaged tooth to restore its strength and appearance. Crowns can be made from a variety of materials, including metal, porcelain, or a combination of the two.

Dental crowns are typically used to treat teeth that have been severely damaged by decay, a root canal, or a fracture. They can also be used to improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, discolored, or misshapen.

The lifespan of a dental crown depends on a number of factors, including the type of material used, the patient’s oral hygiene, and the amount of chewing force the tooth is subjected to. In general, however, dental crowns can last for many years.

The fitting of a dental crown is typically not painful. The dentist will numb the area around the tooth with a local anesthetic. Once the area is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by removing a small amount of tooth structure. The crown will then be fitted over the tooth and bonded in place.

In some cases, the fitting of a dental crown may be more uncomfortable. This is usually due to the extent of the damage to the tooth or the type of material used for the crown. However, even in these cases, the discomfort is usually temporary and will go away within a few days.

01. How long do crowns last?
Depending on materials, but usually they are long lasting restorations, 5+ years.
02. How painful is it to get crowns?
As we touched on above, one of the most important things to remember is that the pain is temporary, lasting a few days at the most. If it’s any longer make sure to let us know!
03. How much does it cost for crowns?
Starting at £550/tooth and depend by materials, time spent and experience of the dentist.

Dental Bridges

Bridges are fixed restorations used to cover a gap due to missing one or more teeth. They restore the appearance, functionality and oral hygiene of your mouth.

The false teeth replacing missing natural teeth are bonded together with the supported crowns and placed over remaining teeth in that area.

Bridges must have a hard core, therefore materials used are zirconia and metal overlaid with porcelain for a better aesthetic result.

01. How long do bridges last?
Usually they last 5-15 years but depend very much of maintenance and oral hygiene.
02. How much does a bridge cost?
Similar to crowns, prices vary with materials used, time and experience of the clinician.

Onlays, Inlays and Overlays

Inlays, onlays, and overlays are all dental restorations that are used to repair damaged teeth. They are made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, gold, and composite resin.

  • Inlays are small restorations that fit within the cusps (bumps) of a tooth. They are typically used to repair small cavities or chips.
  • Onlays are larger restorations that cover one or more cusps of a tooth. They are typically used to repair larger cavities or chips, or to strengthen a tooth that has been weakened by a root canal.
  • Overlays are the largest of the three restorations. They cover the entire chewing surface of a tooth, including the cusps and the edges. They are typically used to repair extensive damage to a tooth, or to change the shape or size of a tooth.

The decision of which type of restoration to use is made by the dentist, based on the extent of the damage to the tooth and the patient’s individual needs.

01. How long do onlays, inlays and overlays last?
They are long lasting restorations similar to others and eventually need changing after 7-15 years.
02. How much do onlays, inlays and overlays cost?
Prices start at £450/unit and vary with materials used

Dentures

Dentures are artificial teeth that are used to replace missing teeth. They can be made from a variety of materials, including acrylic, metal, and porcelain.

There are two main types of dentures:

  • Complete dentures: These replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
  • Partial dentures: These replace some of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw.

Dentures can last for many years if they are properly cared for. However, they will eventually need to be replaced as the gums and jawbone shrink.

The lifespan of dentures depends on a number of factors, including:

  • The type of denture
  • The patient’s oral hygiene
  • The patient’s overall health
01. How long do dentures last?
Even though dentures can last much longer, it is advisable to change them after 5-7 years, as your mouth can change. Dentures can get stained and wear down over time too.
02. How much do dentures cost?
From £450/denture and depending by materials used and number of missing teeth to be replaced.

What a wonderful find!
I’m getting married in June and decided that as a gift to myself I’d like to have the perfect smile for my big day. Teeth whitening has always been on my ‘to-do’ list and so I decided to have a consultation first with Liam. From there it was decided in order to get the very best results before my teeth whitening treatment that an appointment with Cat, The Hygienist (she’s so much more than this to be fair) would be best. That appointment was today. Cat talked me through every step of the procedure, stopping when I needed a break and checking I was okay with how things were going. Oh my, I was over the moon with the results, I truly was. I’ve had many ‘scale and polishes’ in my time over the years, BUT not like this one. I also had the Airflow treatment, which together with the scale & polish gave me amazing results. I’ve not stopped smiling today. It’s actually made my teeth so much whiter – much more than I anticipated it would. I’m booked in soon for the next part of my treatment. Everyone from Louise who greeted me at Reception to leaving was a brilliant service! Thank you
